The UN warned this week against withdrawing its peacekeepers too early from the Central African Republic, as the war in neighbouring Sudan spills across the border [1]. Inside Sudan, drone strikes killed and injured dozens of people on Monday, while displacement and hunger keep rising [2].

In Yemen, more than 250,000 people have now fled renewed fighting, the UN said, with particular concern for the city of Taiz and its governorate, where access is described as essentially blocked [3].

In Haiti, armed groups are adapting to stronger security operations, stepping up reprisals against civilians and reaching further into rural areas, the Security Council heard; elections remain on hold [4].

UN Secretary-General António Guterres laid a wreath for four Indonesian peacekeepers who recently lost their lives in Lebanon, and defended UN peacekeeping in what he called “testing times for peace” [5].
